Save the Mokihinui  - Auckland Meetings

Our 'Save the Mokihinui'  campaigner Debs Martin is making a special trip north to talk to Auckland wide audiences about the Mokihinui River and the campaign to save it from the impact of a dam that will drown pristine forest and ruin it as a river for kayaking and rafting.

The Mokihinui is one of our iconic NZ rivers, and is just north of Westport on the West Coast.

Debs Martin will also show a film of rafting and kayaking on the river in this beautiful native bush setting.

There will be two talks, one in Central Auckland on October 14 and the other at Massey University's Albany campus on October 15.  Please mark this on your calendar now.  Venue details will be advised shortly.

Fourth Sunday of each month

Atuanui Restoration Project Working Bee

Volunteers are needed to help us establish new bait-lines at the 615ha Ataunui Scenic Reserve near Glorit.
This beautiful native bush reserve is accessed from SH16 or Kaipara Hills Road entries.  We have more than 300 bait-stations in place, but need to put in another 200 on the north- east side of the reserve.
Please come and help us with this task.  Atuanui is a steep back country experience tramp and so you need to be at least medium fitness and able to tramp 4-5 hours.  If you have bush navigation or GPS skills, that's a great help too.
We always work in groups of at least two people for safety.  We hope you can come along and lend a hand this year, so that we can get underway with baiting on this side of the reserve too.
For more information, and date confirmation, please contact the Atuanui Restoration Project:
Suzi Phillips at suzi@dialogue.co.nz  or phone 0212712527
