| Lynda
is a self-taught potter having learnt to make pots by trial and error
and by attending weekend schools. She became a fulltime potter on
joining the Fire and Form Potters' Co-op in Hamilton in 1984. Since
then she has made tableware and one-off pieces. Currently her tableware depicts New Zealand birds and flora and generates the income to allow her to spend time experimenting with new ideas. The tableware is all high fired earthenware, fired in an electric kiln so it is strong and food safe. Lynda lives and works amongst ten acres of native bush at Karekare near the coast, west of Auckland. The birds outside the studio such as kereru and tui make their way as paintings onto her work and provide much inspiration as does the coastal scenery. Lynda has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand, in group and solo shows and has work in many collections. |
