Tuesday 20th March 2007 "Sand dune restoration in Kaipara" with Greg Jenks.

Greg Jenks gave a talk about 170 years of dune degradation, and how people working together can reverse those earlier and unforeseen problems.

Greg has the nationally unique community partnership Coast Care BOP programme since 1996, following its inception in 1994.

This partnership between all the four district/city councils, DOC, Environment Bay of Plenty and importantly coastal communities has resulted in the most effective, comprehensive and inclusive dune restoration programme in the country.

Their coastal community members have planted more than 300,000 native dune plants, to mnanage and progressively restore normal function to 100km of dune lands.
